Dr. Richard Finch Hot Springs: A Tribute to a Beloved Community Leader

Irene Simpson Finch, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, passed away on February 'date' at the age of 96 in Temple, TX, after a brief illness. Her legacy extends far beyond her family, as she was an integral part of the Hot Springs community for many years.

Born in St. Louis, MO, Irene grew up with a strong sense of social responsibility and a passion for helping others. She married Commander George I. Finch, a naval officer, and together they raised two sons, who would go on to become respected members of society themselves. The family moved to Temple, TX, where Irene became an active member of Francis Episcopal Church, serving as a volunteer in the gift shop and co-owning American Handicrafts franchise.

Irene's artistic talents were renowned, and she spent several years operating the franchise with her partner. Her love for arts and crafts extended beyond business, as she was known for creating beautiful works of art that brought joy to those around her. Her family cherished these creations, which serve as a testament to her creativity and dedication.

Throughout her life, Irene was surrounded by loving friends and family who shared in her many adventures. She was predeceased by her brother Nova Davis, sister-in-law Joy Finch, and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Richard Finch of Hot Springs, AR, and Dr. James Finch of Temple, TX; one grandson, Charles Finch of Austin, TX; one granddaughter-in-law, Katherine Finch of Austin, TX; and a precious great-granddaughter, Emmeline Finch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Francis Episcopal Church or a charity of the donor's choice. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at Maat Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple, under the direction of HarperTalasek Funeral Home. The family extends their gratitude to Sterling House assisted living and Dr. Kylberg for their kindness and care throughout Irene's illness.
